Subspecies
Three subspecies are
recognized, but only the nominate form occurs in Germany.
Synonyms
Synonymy of Phycitodes maritima maritima:

Homoeosoma carlinella Heinemann, 1865
Phycitodes carlinella (Heinemann, 1865)
Phycitodes carlinella carlinella
(Heinemann, 1865)
Rotruda carlinella (Heinemann, 1865)

Homoeosoma nebulella maritima Tengström, 1870 (?)
Homoeosoma senecionis Vaughan, 1870
Homoeosoma nimbella caniusella Ragonot, 1901
According to Roesler (1973) the maritima epithet has been published as
"var." by Tengström in 1870. Other sources give for the maritima
epithet the publication year of 1848. I do not have the original work
of Tengström for study and thus cannot establish the true
publication date of the maritima epithet. For the time being I accept
Phycitodes maritima as the valid name for this species, but this name
might have to be changed to Phycitodes carlinella.
Distribution
The
nominate subspecies is widely
distributed in Europe, the remaining subspecies occur in North Africa
and in western Asia.
In Germany recorded from all Bundesländer.
