Subspecies

No subspecies are recognized; this species is here regarded as a monotypic species.

Pyralis perversalis (Herrich-Schäffer, 1849)
Pyralis lucidalis (Eversmann, 1844) (homonym)
Pyralis narynensis Zerny, 1914
Pyralis perversalis rubiginetincta Caradja, 1931 (excluded name under Article 1.3.4.)


Identification
Wing span 14 - 19 mm. Uniform ground color dark chestnut brown or blackish brown; but there are also lighter brown specimens. The anteromedial and postmedial lines are light brown and slightly widening towards the costal edge.


Distribution
Present in eastern Europe and some scattered records exist from Asia. Not yet recorded from Germany, but there is a record from the Czech Republic close to the German border. Thus, the species can be expected in Sachsen.


Biology
Prefers dry and sandy habitats. Flight season June to August. The larva is unknown.
