Subspecies
|
(1) Bufo
bufo bufo (Linnaeus, 1758)
(2) Bufo bufo gredosicola L. Mueller et
Hellmich, 1935 (Spain).
Several additional subspecies have been
described across the range of the
species, but most are now regarded as
separate species. The status of Bufo
spinosus Daudin, 1803 from the European
mediterranean region and Bufo
verrucosissimus (Pallas, 1814) from the
Caucasus is discussed controversially; I
regard them as separate species.
Only the nominate subspecies occurs in
Germany.
