Identification
Single zooids
are rare, often at least 2 zooids are present, but chains of up to 8
zooids in a row are known. A chain of 2 zooids is about 1 mm long,
chains of multiple zooids are up to 5 mm long. The animals are white (or
colorless) and each zooid has a clearly visible statocyst.
Distribution
Widely distributed in Europe.
Biology
This species lives in freshwater. It is a common species and may occur in masses in polluted water.
