L. Koch, 1843 (misidentification) Note: this name has long been regarded as a synonym of Tegenaria atrica. This explains why the species has been (re-)described later with the name Tegenaria gigantea (that is still found in most publications). However, Tegenaria duellica is no synonym of Tegenaria atrica, but a senior synonym of T. gigantea, and is thus the valid name of the species.
