Breitling et al. 2016
have shown that the name "Alopecosa accentuata" is a nomen dubium that
probably applies to
Alopecosa barbipes or Alopecosa trabalis (or another Alopecosa species),
but cannot be identified with certainty. Because it is a nomen dubium
it is not considered as a senior synonym of the present species.
The distribution of this species is unclear,
because it has frequeently been confused with its sister species
Alopecosa farinosa (previously called "Alopecosa accentuata"). Therefore, all records for "Alopecosa accentuata"
may either refer to Alopecosa farinosa or to Alopecosa barbipes. Thus,
the distributional data of both species urgently requires a revision.
Confirmed records for Alopecosa barbipes seem to suggest that this
species is actually a central and eastern European species.
