This present species has previously been known as "Alopecosa accentuata". However,
Breitling et al. 2016
have shown that this name is a nomen dubium that probably applies to
Alopecosa barbipes or Alopecosa trabalis (or another Alopecosa species),
but cannot be identified with certainty. Thus, for the species formerly
incorrectly denoted by the name "Alopecosa accentuata" the next
available name was used, which is the nominal Lycosa farinosa; thus the
valid name for the present species is Alopecosa farinosa.
The distribution of this species is unclear,
because it has frequeently been confused with its sister species
Alopecosa barbipes. Therefore, all records for "Alopecosa accentuata"
may either refer to Alopecosa farinosa or to Alopecosa barbipes. Thus,
the distributional data of both species urgently requires a revision.
Confirmed records for Alopecosa farinosa seem to suggest that this
species is actually a western European species and it might actually not
occur in Germany at all.
