Dendryphantes lanipes C. L. Koch, 1846
Dendryphantes albovariegatus Simon, 1868
Attus albovariegatus (Simon, 1868)
Philaeus albovariegatus (Simon, 1868)
The taxon lanipes has been synonymized by
Breitling et al. 2016.
This taxon has repeatedly confused authors and has been incorrectly
synonymized with several taxa including Dendryphantes semilimbatus
(currently in Menemerus) and Attus bicolor (currently a synonym of
Carrhotus xanthogramma). Most recent authors, however, regard it as a
valid species.
Breitling et al. 2016
have re-assessed the description and the available figure of
Dendryphantes lanipes and show that this taxon is actually based on an
immature specimen of Philaeus chrysops.
The taxon albovariegatus has been revised by
Breitling et al. 2016.
They have shown that the type material was heterogenous and they
selected a lectotype from this material. This lectotype specimen is
conspecific with the present species and therefore they have synonymized
both taxa.
The taxon Dendryphantes jugatus L. Koch, 1856 (currently in Philaeus)
might also be a synonym of the present species as suggested by
Breitling et al. 2016. However, this is not clear and the type material has not yet been located, therefore the name remains a nomen dubium.
