Distribution
This is a tropical species distributed in Australia, Tasmania and
Papua New Guinea. It has been reported from Germany (from the Aachen
area) under the name of Philaeus superciliosus in 1883, but has not been
reported again since the first find.
Breitling et al. 2016
suggest that
the single specimen from the Aachen area was an accidental introduction
with imported dyewood that was used at the time in the region by
textile factories.
