This species was previously listed in checklists for Germany under the name Xysticus albomaculatus. This taxon is so rare that only two German records are known (from Großer Feldberg (Hessen) and Pforzheim (Baden-Württemberg)). Breitling et al. 2016 realized that the taxon was actually identical to another extremely rare taxon, Bassaniana baudueri. The identity had been previously overlooked, because only so few specimens of both taxa are known and have never been compared.
