The senior synonym Musca lateralis has been suppressed by the
International Commission on Zoological Nomenclature (Opinion 884).
Pont (2002)
has studied the type material of the taxon "hilaris" and has confirmed
the synonymy with the present species. He also studied type material of
the taxon "impura" and showed that this was conspecific with the present
species, not with Fannia incisurata as previously thought.
The taxon chaoyangensis has been placed in the synonymy of the present species in the study by
Wang et al. 2007.
