Gregor and Rozkosny (1993)
have studied the type material of the taxa limbata and berolinensis and
found them to be identical. They write that the alleged differences in
genital morphology between the two taxa actually was caused by different
preparation methods in the two original descriptions: in the case of
limbata these were studied in situ, whereas in the case of berolinensis
they have been macerated in a hot solution of potassium hydroxide that
leads to a flattening of the male hypopygium and thus to an artificially
modified morphology (
Gregor and Rozkosny 1993).
