This species was formerly known as "Fannia glaucescens", but Pont (2002) showed that the type material of the taxon "glaucescens" is actually a mix of several species, none of which is identical with the present species. By lectotype selection, the taxon glaucescens became a synonym of Fannia armata. The next younger synonym for the present species is "lucidula" and therefore became the valid name.
