Subspecies
No subspecies are recognized. The taxon stelviana Suess, 1982 that has previously been regarded as a subspecies of the present species is in fact a synonym or a subspecies of Chionea botosaneanui (which has not been reported from Germany yet) (Oosterbroek and Reusch (2008)).
