This species has been described from the UK, but is believed to originate from southern Africa, from where it has been imported to the UK via guano trade. In this way the species might, in theory, be accidentally introduced in many countries. In Germany, there is a single report of a specimen collected in Braunschweig (Niedersachsen). However, Stuke and Rohacek (2019) consider this a doubtful record, because they did not find evidence for direct guano trade from southern Africa to locations in or near Braunschweig.
