This is an eastern palaearctic species mainly found in central and eastern Russia. There is a single published record of this species for Germany (Roeder 1980). However, given the difficulties of species identification in the genus Epistrophe and the taxonomic confusion that still existed in the 1980s, it is very likely that this report is based on a misidentification. It is therefore currently unclear whether this species actually occurs in Germany.
