Synonyms
Epistrophe flava
Doczkal et Schmid, 1994 (p. 13)
Epistrophe melanostomoides auct. nec Strobl, 1880 (misidentification)
Epistrophe ochrostoma auct. nec Zetterstedt, 1849 (misidentification)
Note: the existence of a large species of Epistrophe in Europe with an
entirely yellow mouth area has been known for a long time, but the names
attributed to that species (Epistrophe melanostomoides and Epistrophe
ochrostoma) were all incorrect (Epistrophe melanostomoides is a synonym
of Epistrophe melanostoma and Epistrophe ochrostoma is an entirely
different species). Thus, this species did not have a proper name until
1994 when
Doczkal and Schmid (1994) named this species Epistrophe flava.
