Epistrophe flava

Subspecies
No subspecies are recognized.
Synonyms
Epistrophe flava Doczkal et Schmid, 1994 (p. 13)
Epistrophe melanostomoides auct. nec Strobl, 1880 (misidentification)
Epistrophe ochrostoma auct. nec Zetterstedt, 1849 (misidentification)

Note: the existence of a large species of Epistrophe in Europe with an entirely yellow mouth area has been known for a long time, but the names attributed to that species (Epistrophe melanostomoides and Epistrophe ochrostoma) were all incorrect (Epistrophe melanostomoides is a synonym of Epistrophe melanostoma and Epistrophe ochrostoma is an entirely different species). Thus, this species did not have a proper name until 1994 when Doczkal and Schmid (1994) named this species Epistrophe flava.
