Note: the listing of Cimex triangularis and its
synonyms as synonyms of the present species is
incorrect.
Identification
Size: 6-7.2 mm.
Distribution
This species occurs in western
Asia, and south and central Europe. However, it
has been frequently
confused with the very similar Arocatus longiceps.
Thus, most records of the present species
require confirmation. It appears to be very rare
in Germany. Confirmed records exist for
Rheinland-Pfalz and Bayern.
Biology
The host plants are alder (Alnus) and other
broadleaf trees. The reports of plane (Platanus)
as host plant is likely to be incorrect and
probably results from confusion with Arocatus longiceps.
Overwintering imagines can be found from March
and second generation imagines are present from
June.
