The present taxon is often regarded as a synonym of Dineura testaceipes, but
Liston et al. (2019)
regard it as a separate species based on differences in larval host
plant and penis valve morphology, and because a phylogenetic sequence
analysis of partial sequences of COI and TPI genes place the two taxa in
separate clades. I follow this notion here.
