Subspecies
|
No
subspecies are recognized. The status of this taxon is debated. Most
authors regard it as a subspecies or only an individual aberration of Glyphipterix thrasonella.
Only two female specimens are known. Thus, nothing certain can be said
about the taxon; however, I prefer to regard it as a separate species,
in order to draw attention to the fact, that Borkum island may be the
home of an endemic and extremely rare species of Glyphipteryx.
