Note: the etymology of the species epithet is debated. The original
author does not state its derivation, but it might refer to the Loreley
area (the region dealt with in the work) or to the city of Lorch (the
type locality). In both cases, the name would be an unusual derivative
and does not unambiguously indicate adjectival or nominal use. Thus, in
the absence of evidence for adjectival use, the epithet must be
considered as a noun in apposition (Article 32.2.2.) and the name takes
the form "loranus" irrespective of the gender of the genus name.
