Subspecies
|
No
subspecies are currently recognized. However, this species is closely
related to several other Crombrugghia species some of which may in fact
comprise cryptic species. I expect
that detailed systematic analyses will reveal that Crombrugghia
comprises a much higher number of separate taxa than are currently
recognized.

Oxyptilus tristis (Zeller, 1839)
Crombrugghia tristis (Zeller, 1839)
Pterophorus tristidactyla Bruand, 1858
Crombrugghia adamczewskii Bigot et Picard, 1988
Oxyptilus adamczewskii (Bigot et Picard, 1988)
Oxyptilus distans auct. nec Zeller, 1847 (misidentification, see Haslberger et al. 2016)
Note: Oxyptilus adamczewskii is either listed as a synonym of the
present species or of Crombrugghia distans. I provisionally follow here
the former interpretation, but I expect that the status of many taxa in
Crombrugghia will change when a detailed systematic analysis and
revision is performed in the future.
The validity of the genus Crombrugghia has recently been questioned and
several authors now synonymize it with the genus Oxyptilus. I
provisionally retain it in Crombrugghia until more phylogenetic
information becomes available.

Distribution
|
The distribution of this species in Germany is unclear, mainly because of frequent misidentifications with other species. Haslberger et al. (2016) report a number of reliably identified specimens from Bayern.
