The generic placement of this species is not fully resolved yet. The
currently best analysis of the relationships of the present species is
the work by Mally and Nuss (2010), who present a good case for placing
the species in the genus Cydalima, but a full revision of this group of
lepidopterans is still lacking and further taxonomic changes may be
anticipated.

Distribution

This
is an introduced species that has spread throughout Germany during the
recent years. It is recorded from most Bundesländer, especially in the
western part of Germany. Buchsbaum (2016) reports the species from Thüringen.
