The Congress Center Hotel Teistungenburg is a recently built complex at the site of an old monastery, right at the former border West/East Germany. Besides the congress facilities it offers a very convenient recreation area, comprising of swimming pool, sauna, fitness studios and squash courts.

Teistungen is situated right in the geographical center of Germany, in the Federal State of Thuringia, 35 km east of the old University Town Goettingen.

 

 

Access to Teistungenburg

The nearest airports are Frankfurt (Main) and Hannover, from which the ICE-trains will take you to Goettingen Railway Station.

Time of transfer from
Frankfurt-Airport to Goettingen: approx. 2 hours
Hannover-Airport to Goettingen: approx. 1 hour.
The nearest Railway Station is Goettingen. From there a shuttle-bus service will be organized. (See Registration Form).
An information desk will be set up in the main hall of Goettingen railway station on 4 October 1998, from 10.00 to 18.00 hours.

Taxi fare: DM 75,00 (1-3 persons)

If you drive by car, use Autobahn (Highway) A7, Exit Nr. 76, (Goettingen Nord), and then straight onto
Bundesstraße B 27, direction Braunlage, until Ebergötzen (16 km), turn to the right
Bundesstraße B446 until Duderstadt (13 km), and then turn to the right
Bundesstraße B247, direction Mühlhausen, until Teistungenburg (5 km).

Currency

Currency is Deutsche Mark (DM) 1,00 DM = 100 Pfennig. 1 US$ = approx. DM 1,80 (on Feb. 1998). All major international credit cards are generally accepted by shops, restaurants, or hotels.
There are no bank facilities in Teistungenburg.

Insurances

Delegates have to arrange themselves for health, luggage or other insurances. The congress may not be made liable for accidents, loss or damage of property, or for changes in the programme due to unforseeable events.

Weather and Clothing

Teistungen has a typical continental climate. At the beginning of October the average daily temperatures are around 10 °C. In autumn the weather may be changing quickly. Cold nights and occasional rains are possible.

Social events

No special programme has been prepared for accompanying persons during the conference. However, the staff of the Conference Center will be delighted to help you in arranging special visits to the nearby Harz mountains by steam railway, or other places like the medieval town of Werningerode.
Wednesday afternoon there will be a guided bus tour to the castle of ‘Wartburg’, where Martin Luther stayed as refugee.
Duration: 6 hours. The special price DM 145,00/per person includes bus fare, entry fee at the Wartburg, dinner (Wednesday evening), accommodation (night Wednesday/Thursday) and breakfast at Hotel Teistungenburg. There will be a bus transfer to the railway station in Goettingen on Thursday. Departure is 09.00 a.m. Please include this price in your registration fee payment and mark it on the registration form.

Extension of your stay at Teistungenburg

You may stay at the Hotel Teistungenburg before and after the conference. Please contact the Hotel directly. Special conference prices will be offered, however the costs for additional stay are on the participants own account.
