European Programme for Training and Mobility of Researchers (TMR)

Within the TMR programme, the European Community awarded substantial financial support. Participants from EC member states should get more information in http://www.cordis.lu/tmr/home.html, or with their national contact points.

Besides a contribution to the expenses related to the organisation of the conference, special emphasis is laid on the participation of young researchers. A TMR supported participant is a person who undertakes research on a professional basis and is a national of a member or associated country of the EC. A TMR personal grant includes costs for transport, accommodation and conference fees.

Target groups

In addition to the European aspect above, the participation of researchers drawn from the following target groups is encouraged:

• researchers aged 35 years or under;
• researchers whose place of work is in a less favoured region;
• women researchers (where encouragement is necessary to ensure equality of opportunity between men and women);
• researchers who work in industry.

According to TMR-regulations participants must be respected within the quota of the country of origin. Early application is recommended (see application form below). Deadline for application: 15 June 1998; notification of acceptance: 15 July 1998.

International participation

Following the ‘First Call’, we received letters of interest from scientists of the following 35 countries.

Australia, Brasil, Cameroon, Canada, Columbia, Ghana, India, Japan, Madagascar, Mali, Mexico, Mozambique, Peru, South Africa, Sudan, USA, Zambia.

Application Procedure

Participants who want to apply for a TMR grant are requested to fill in the TMR Application Form. You can download this form as a Word for Windows 6.0 File. The filled in form should then be send by mail or fax to the conference secretariat.
