The status of the taxa rubrescens and formosicola is unclear; there are apparently no features that separate the two taxa and they may therefore be identical. The status of the taxon pallida is debated; some authors place it as a subspecies into Thyatira vicina (from Java, Borneo, Bali, Sumbawa and Flores), while Laszlo et al. (2007) in their revision of the genus transfer it as a subspecies to Thyatira batis. Only the nominate subspecies occurs in Germany.
