The placement of this species in Tiliacea is doubtful. Both in imaginal and in larval characters the species is quite far from the type species of Tiliacea, Tiliacea citrago, and is rather similar to species in Xanthia. Beck (1991) has erected a separate subgenus Aurxanthia for it that could be elevated to genus rank, but it is also possible that the present species actually belongs to Xanthia. The relationships of Xanthia and its allies requires a thorough revision using modern phylogenetic methods. Until more data about these relationships becomes available I provisionally retain the species in Tiliacea.
