IBM RS/6000 Patch Procedures

Patches for AIX are available through the normal AIX FixDist WEB site as follows:

1. Point your WEB browser to http://techsupport.services.ibm.com/rs6000/support.
    
2. Click on "Fixes, drivers, updates, tools" on the left.
    
3. Select the link to your operating system; for example, "Download specific fixes for AIX V4".
    
4. Select a "Product database" and "Search by" radio button. In most cases, you will be selecting an APAR or PTF button.
    
5. Enter the APAR or PTF number in the text box, then click on the Find Fix button.
    
6. Select the item from the list box. Depending on what is being downloaded, you may have to make additional selections.
    
7. Click on the Get Fix Package button.
    
8. Using your Web browser, download the filesets and put them into a directory; for example, /tmp/ibm_fix.
    
9. Use the AIX smit tool to install the patch from the directory.
